Is Cetaphil a Cruelty-Free Company?

Cetaphil is a skincare brand with products to help sensitive, dry, and acne-prone skin types. All skincare products included in Cetaphil’s skincare line are specifically designed and clinically proven to help with skin’s overall health and appearance.

The label “cruelty-free” applies to a finished cosmetic product that has not been tested on animals. It should be noted the term “cruelty-free” is not regulated by the US Food and Drug Administration and has not been legally defined. Many cosmetic companies claim their products are cruelty-free when the fact is at least some of their product ingredients have been tested on animals.

Cetaphil states on its website that it does not conduct animal testing on its products. Galderma is a pharmaceutical company and is the parent company for Cetaphil. Galderma is required by law to test all of its pharmaceutical products on animals.

Cetaphil Selling In China...

It is unclear whether Cetaphil cosmetic products are sold in China, where mandatory animal testing is required for all cosmetic products sold in China but manufactured outside of China.

The Verdict: Cetaphil IS a cruelty-free company, however its parent company Galderma is NOT cruelty-free.
