Is Make Up For Ever a Cruelty-Free Company?

The label “cruelty-free” refers to a finished cosmetic product that has not been tested on animals. The term “cruelty-free” is not regulated by the US Food and Drug Administration and has not been legally defined. As a result, many cosmetic companies claim their products are cruelty-free when the truth is at least some of their product ingredients have been tested on animals.

Make Up For Ever is a cosmetic company focused on providing access to professional-grade makeup to everyday women. The company offers extensive makeup education through a worldwide network of makeup academies.

Make Up For Ever is owned by the French luxury giant LVMH Group. While the Make Up For Ever website is silent on animal testing, the LVHM Group has not conducted animal testing since 1989.

Make Up For Ever in China...

However, Make Up For Ever products are sold in China, where mandatory animal testing is required for all cosmetic products sold in China but manufactured outside of China. There are some reports that China may be lifting some of these animal testing requirements, however there has been no official change in Chinese law at this time.

The Verdict: Make Up For Ever is NOT cruelty-free.
